The Diploma in Underwater Welding Engineering Technology is designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for specialised careers in underwater engineering and the offshore industry. Offered under UTMSPACE Services, in association with the Underwater Welding Engineering Centre (UWEC), the programme integrates key disciplines in underwater welding, commercial diving, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
Through a combination of theoretical learning, practical training, and industry-oriented experiences, students will develop an understanding of underwater welding techniques, diving operations, structural inspection, and the assessment of subsea structures. The programme aims to strengthen students’ technical competencies, problem-solving abilities, and safety awareness in demanding marine and offshore environments.
Graduates will be equipped with a foundation to pursue career opportunities across the oil and gas sector, maritime operations, and heavy marine engineering industries, where specialised underwater engineering skills play an essential role in maintaining structural integrity, safety, and operational efficiency.
